Being a valuable rider for my teammates to help them win. And getting the most out of myself in stage races and time trials.
I started cycling when I was eleven after I won the Dutch championships ‘dikke bandenrace’. That is a small race for kids on a city bike with dikke banden or fat tires. I started training and racing with Westland Wil Vooruit and had a lot of fun.
As a last year junior I got in contact with Servais and Natascha and became a member of the APB junior team. Together with the other girls it was an amazing year and I became Dutch and World Champion on the time trial bike. That year I also started my studies Mechanical Engineering at the TU Delft.
The team grew into Rogelli-Gyproc-APB and I experienced how cool but difficult racing at elite level was. Last year was the first year with NXTG and of course an abnormal year. I learned a lot about myself. Now I am really looking forward to put all these lessons into practice for the next season with the girls!
